Leap of Faith: Daily Lessons About Jesus Christ
Chapter: Individualism and the Bible (Pages 231-233)
Individualism is the moral stance, political philosophy, ideology, or social outlook that stresses “the moral worth of the individual.” Individualists promote the exercise of one’s goal and desires and so value independence and self-reliance while opposing external interference upon one’s own interests by society or other institutions such as the government. Individualism focuses on human liberation versus humanism and society controlling the actions of the individual. Individualism is associated with the artistic and bohemian interests and lifestyles where there is a tendency toward self-creation and experimentation as opposed to tradition or popular mass opinions and behaviors as so also with humanist philosophical positions and ethics.
An individualist enters into a society to seek out their own interests, or at least demands the right to serve his or her own interests, without taking the interests of society into consideration.
It is important to see how the Bible relates to individualism. As children of God we are to seek out our own path as God as our guide. We are to rely on God for the answers. God seeks for us to use our creative side in order to increase the beauty of the world. We are to explore all of our mind and to discover our individual passion in life. By seeking out our passion, we find that God intends to open doors for us to incorporate our passion into our work.
God wants us to know Him. He desires for us to spend time with Him each day, even if it is only for a brief moment, and in that moment you feel the Power of God…. One scripture a day can take you places of which you have only dreamed. One scripture can open your eyes to see God’s kingdom and help you to realize how to overcome the world. By obtaining God’s enlightenment, we are able to discern all things. This includes those who are attempting to overcome you. In this statement I am referring to antichrists. By getting into the Word, we are able to hear and see at a heightened state. We are able to pick up on the voice of deceit versus the voice of truth. Stay on guard. Speak with clarity. Observe tone. Communicate effectively. Those who recognize Satan in his attempts to overcome Christians will come out victorious in the end. You must pay attention to the voices of reason and the voices of destruction. Also, it is key to discern between the son of destruction and Jesus who will conquer all evil and bring the deceit to light...It is a spiritual type of warfare that we face. Satan will attempt to attack and destroy at all cost. He is out to harm all of God’s people and those that know Jesus.
Satan is constantly attempting to distract you, and you must obtain sharp focus over him. This focus is achieved through getting into the Word of God.
I have come to find that by staying in motion we are able to remain in a constant state of strength. We need to take care of our bodies as a temple and build them up into a fortress. Just a little action goes a long ways. It helps, I promise. Being proactive builds strength. Especially proactive in the Word. Being stationary in unhealthy environments can cause you to feel spiritual attacks, because you are so sensitive Now…
We need to focus upon expanding our horizons versus just falling into the traps of society and the government. God intends for us to thrive and to enjoy our work. He intends for us to have options, and by seeking Him, I believe in my heart that He will open those doors. Put yourself into the right situations surrounded by good people, and opportunity will present itself.
We will not subside to the rules and regulations that government is attempting to impose upon us. We will achieve a higher sense of awareness in order to seek out a higher calling. Follow your dreams. Do not settle for any less than what you deserve. You deserve the best in all your efforts in serving God…And these rewards can be a feeling of “being caught up” or overcome by a feeling of peace, calmness, and transformation….(Key to knowing He is with you…) It can often bring tears because his love and peace is so great….When you experience this feeling of transformation or tingling you know that you are in the Spirit…You “Glow” on those around you…
Job 15:31 (nasb) says, “Let him not trust in emptiness, deceiving himself; For emptiness will be his reward.”
“A good name is to be more desired than great riches, favor is better than silver and gold. The rich man and the poor have a common bond, the Lord is the maker of them all. The prudent sees the evil and hides himself, but the naive go on, and are punished for it. The reward of humility and the fear of the Lord are riches, honor, and life.”
Proverbs 22:1-4 (nasb) (emphasis added)
