To Be One With God

Insight To His Sight: Recognizing God’s Purpose For You

Chapter: One (Pages 145-147)

To be one, to be complete, and to love completely without full understanding—this is what we are called to do, having been raised by the Holy Spirit in all regards.

To not give into the corruption of lust and temptation…

To be our true selves and fall away from our former life of sins…

To learn from our mistakes…

To feel the Spirit growing inside of us and seeking to nurture it and embrace it…

To remember that our body is a temple of the Holy Spirit…

To enjoy life to the fullest extent but to shun away all evil with good…

To prove to be examples of the word and not just hearers of the word…

Wow! That is something not to be abused or taken for granted. It is powerful and magnificent. Loving God is not about seeking to gain for selfish reasons but fulfilling the will of God. It is not lording it over those allotted to our charge but proving it by living the word. Not just saying but doing. Building upon the foundation that God has set in strengthening our bodies in moral excellence, self-control, perseverance, godliness, and brotherly love.

“Yet the body is not for immorality, but for the Lord; and the Lord is for the body. Now God has not only raised the Lord, but will also raise us up through His power. Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take away the members of Christ and make them members of a harlot? May it never be! But the one who joins himself to the Lord is one spirit with Him. Flee immorality. Every other sin that a man commits is outside the body, but the immoral man sins against his own body. Or do you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own?”

1 Corinthians 6:12

“Shepherd the flock of God among you, exercising oversight not under compulsion, but voluntarily, according to the will of God; and not for sordid gain, but with eagerness; nor yet as lording it over those allotted to your charge, but proving to be examples to the flock. And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory.”

1 Peter 4:2–4

“Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord; seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, in order that by them you might become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust. Now for this very reason also, applying all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence, and in your moral excellence, knowledge; and in your knowledge, self-control, and in your self- control, perseverance, and in your perseverance, godliness; and in your godliness, brotherly kindness, and in your brotherly kindness, love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they render you neither useless nor unfruitful in the true knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For he who lacks these qualities is blind or short-sighted, having forgotten his purification from his former sins.”
