Leap of Faith: Daily Lessons About Jesus Christ
Chapter: Conquer Sin (Pages 213-215)
Genesis 4:7 (kjv) says, “If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? And if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door; And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.”
Jeremiah 17:9-10 (nasb) says, “The heart is more deceitful than all else and is desperately sick; Who can understand it? I, the Lord, search the heart, I test the mind, even to give each man according to his ways, according to the results of his deeds.”
First John 2:15 says, “Do not love the world, nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world.”
“Now as the times and the epochs, brethren, you have no need of anything to be written to you. For you yourselves know full well that the day of the Lord will come just like a thief in the night. While they are saying, “Peace and safety!” then destruction will come upon them suddenly like birth pangs upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. But you, brethren, are not in darkness, that the day should overtake you like a thief; for you are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of night nor of darkness; so then let us not sleep as others do, but let us be alert and sober. For those who sleep do their sleeping at night, and those who get drunk get drunk at night. But since we are of the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet, the hope of salvation. For God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
1 Thessalonians 5:1-9 (nasb)
Every person’s focus should be upon mastering sin. In most cases in order to master sin we must experience it. However, there are those who have dedicated their lives to serving God who may not have experienced or seen all sin. I have so much respect for the people who have seen the big picture since the beginning and have attempted to do their best in protecting their families from the world and Satan. I know why you live the way you do. I understand. The bottom line of reality is that we all, at some point in our lives, will see sin and more than likely experience it. We have a choice as to whether we partake in sin. By studying God’s Word, we are kept on the straight and narrow path by God’s Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is more powerful than any force in the world. The Holy Spirit allows one to obtain clarity, strength, focus, perseverance, endurance, and stability. These are all critical aspects of living a life dedicated to serving Christ.
Allow the Holy Spirit to do the work for you. The Holy Spirit can open all doors for you. The Holy Spirit can resolve all problems. The Holy Spirit can answer all questions. So, who would not want to have the power of the Holy Spirit? I cannot begin to understand why anyone would choose to live any other way. Once you experience it for the first time, you will be amazed! It is the most absolute form of clarity that I have personally come to know.
To be honest, in many cases I have seen the worst of the worst in many situations in life. The one solution to conquering and mastering these situations is the Holy Spirit. God will do it, if you allow Him to. He wants to help you. Give Him the opportunity, and you will not be let down. God never breaks a promise.
Make your goal in life to be the one who stands firm in dark situations. Do not fall or be led into temptation. People will respect you for being cool and not allowing anyone to bring you down. You be the example. You be the light in the darkness. You shine and overcome Satan. Do not let him tear your world apart or cause disruption within your relationships. I have seen it first hand. Knowing that you are not alone in being tempted or lead astray is important. You are not alone.
Jesus Himself experienced it all during His lifetime. He saw the worst of the worst and had to learn how to handle any and all situations. He was tested and tempted to a point that no one understands or knows but he himself…. It would be hard to begin to know the testing, which Christ Himself underwent, but know that He has felt what you may be feeling. He can relate to people from all walks in life, and He can heal if you allow Him to do so. He has the ability to help if you give Him a chance. He knows how bad life can get, and He knows how hard it can be. He also knows that there is a way out of all the strife and turmoil. He knows the way to eternal salvation. Let Him lead you, and you will know the power of God.
Make your goal in life be to conquer sin. No one wants regrets. Do not allow Satan to sneak into your life and cause you to have regrets or your downfall…Jesus made the ulimate sacrifice for us…
