God’s Design…The Future

Leap of Faith: Daily Lessons About Jesus Christ

Chapter: Super 8/Infinity (Pages 53-56)

The Future…

In Hebrew the number eight is sh’moneh, from the root shah’meyn, “to make fat,” “cover with fat,” “to super-abound.” As a participle it means “one who abounds in strength,” etc. As a noun it is “superabundant fertility,” “oil,” etc. So that as a numeral it is the superabundant number, as seven was so-called because the seventh day was the day of completion and rest, so eight, as the eighth day, was over and above this perfect completion and was indeed the first of the new series, as well as being eighth (Betemunah.org).

Seven plus one is the number specially associated with the resurrection and regeneration and the beginning of a new era or order.

When the whole earth was covered with the flood, it was Noah “the eighth person” who stepped out on to a new earth to commerce a new order of things. “Eight souls” passed through it with him to the new or regenerated world.

Second Peter 2:5 (nasb) says, “and did not spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah, a preacher of righteousness, with seven others, when He brought a flood upon the world of the ungodly.”

First Peter 3:20 (kjv) says, “which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of No’-ah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.”

Also, the circumcision was to be performed on the eighth day, because it was the foreshadowing of the true circumcision of the heart, that which was to be “made without hands,” even “putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ.” This is connected with the new creation.

Genesis 17:12 (nasb) says, “And every male among you who is eight days old shall be circumcised throughout your generation, a servant who is born in the house or who is bought with money from any foreigner, who is not of your descendants.”

Colossians 2:11 (nasb) says, “and in Him you were also circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, in the removal of the body of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ.”

Colossians 2:11 (kjv) says, “Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scyth’-i-an, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.”

The firstborn was to be given to God on the eighth day.

Exodus 22:29-30 (nasb) says, “You shall not delay the offering from your harvest and your vintage. The first-born of your sons you shall give to Me. You shall do the same with your oxen and with your sheep. It shall be with its mother seven days; on the eighth day you shall give it to Me.”

The resurrection of the dead is the great truth, which is signified by the number eight. The Bible contains the record of eight individuals who have been brought back to life. This is an important fact to be aware of.

“And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit. And behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom, and the earth shook; and the rocks were split, and the tombs were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; and coming out of the tombs after His resurrection they entered the holy city and appeared to many.”

Matthew 27:50-53 (nasb)

Jesus’s transfiguration took place on the eighth day…

The transfiguration also took place on the eighth day (inclusive reckoning) after the first announcement of Christ’s “sufferings,” and it was the showing forth of the “glory,” which should follow at His coming again.

Eight is the number of Jesus, whose name in Greek when added up totals to 888.

It is the number stamped upon the Old Testament, the numbers of its books in all the manuscripts being twenty-four (three times eight).

Key Point: In the book that relates to His great Apocalypse or Revelation, there are in the introduction, which sets forth the glory of the Lord to be revealed in the day of the Lord, Eight references to the Old Testament on which the claims of His Lordship are based.

The number eight, which comes after the number seven, which signifies completeness, symbolizes a new beginning or a new order of things, a new creation, a new birth, and the resurrection to eternal life.

This should be very important in revealing Jesus in the second coming.

Choices and faith are of the utmost priority. To be put clearly, our destiny is determined by what we do with Jesus—our faith. Our reward is determined by what we do for Jesus—our works.

God has done all that He can to save the people of the world…. He has given us life, offered us forgiveness, sent His only begotten son, and been patient…

Remember the tugging of the Holy Spirit upon you, and the chances you have had to be saved… God knows who let those opportunities pass by. Remember the goodness of God and that it should lead you to repentance.

“Behold, He cometh with the clouds; and every eye shall see Him, and they also which pierced Him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of Him. Even so. A’-men. “I am the Al’-pha and the O-me’-ga,” the Beginning and the Ending, saith the Lord which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.”

Revelation 1:7-8 (kjv)

Everyone should be aware of the fact that Jesus is eternal and that He has infinite supernatural power. He withstands the pain of the entire world. He has no fear of death. He hears all and sees all. Remember that He conquered sin and death. His power goes beyond anything that we can conceive of as humans. He is the real Superman. I would not dare to attempt to test the power of God.

Be smart. Trust in Him.

Immediately, I was in the Spirit; and behold, a throne was standing in heaven, and One who sitting on the throne. And He who was sitting was like a jasper stone and a sardius appearance; and there was a rainbow around the throne, like an emerald in appearance.”

Revelation 4:1–3

And coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected by men, but choice and precious in the sight of God, you also, as living stones, for being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
