The Sound of Sunshine

Insight To His Sight: Recognizing God’s Purpose For You

Chapter: Sound of Sunshine (Pages 247-249)

Friday September 23, 2011…

Happy Friday, everybody. Today was a super smooth day for the eye team. The chaos was held to a bare minimum, which was nice. At times, we have so much going on that it takes every single drop of strength to get through the day, but at the end, it feels great to come out on top. On top means persevering and enduring for a greater cause than what we see with our eyes. It is the cause that goes beyond our understanding, and in fact is just a small part of God’s plan.

I continue to be amazed at the spirit of each member of this team as they carry on wholeheartedly no matter how rough the road may become. The desire and dedication is so apparent in each individual’s actions. Today, for example, after we had wrapped up all of the YAG patients, six-week post-ops, as well as day one post-ops, the entire team of day workers began to sing in harmony. I felt as if I was witnessing perfection. With only one drum and no other instruments, the group produced a sound unlike anything I have ever heard. Whether by stomping on the ground with their feet, clapping their hands, or using their voice at various times out of sync to create their own rhythm, they made it jive. It was a priceless moment, and there was no price of admission for this show.

The power of music is awesome. That is a given for anyone who has even the least bit of appreciation for good tunes. One good song can change even the worst of days. A few good lyrics can touch a person’s heart in a place that no one can begin to understand. I mean can you imagine a world without music? I do not even want to try and go there. I love to hear good instrumental bands without lyrics, but I continue to enjoy more and more hearing people’s stories through their lyrics.

Lyrics are powerful, and definitely something to be mindful of. The impact can be either a super positive influence or it can be manipulative in a negative way depending upon the artist. I am open to pretty much all sounds and artist because everyone has their own personal preference. I respect it all, but I also like to be aware of what I am listening to. Is it to help us grow or is it to bring us down? I love good music that brings people together in a new light. A way that we can relate to one another and see new talent.

We all have talent, but it is just a matter of seeking to discover that talent. How bad do you want to learn how to put it all together? Life can be like a puzzle at times, but it is our choice to figure out how each piece fits together as one big masterpiece. It makes me stop and think for a minute.

Now accept the one who is weak in faith, but not for the purpose of passing judgment on his opinions.

Romans 14:1

“Therefore let us not judge one another anymore, but rather determine this-not to put an obstacle or a stumbling block in a brother’s way.”

Romans 14:13

“Now we who are strong ought to bear the weakness of those without strength and not just please ourselves. Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to his edification. For even Christ did not please Himself; but as it is written, “The reproaches of those who reproached thee fell upon Me.” For whatever was written for our instruction, that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. Now may the God who gives perseverance and encouragement grant you to be of the same mind with one another according to Christ Jesus; that with one accord you may with one voice glorify the God and Father our Lord Jesus Christ. Wherefore, accept one another, just as Christ also accepted us to the glory of God.”

Romans 15:1
