Leap of Faith: Daily Lessons About Jesus Christ

Chapter: The Return of Christ (Page 51)

“And there will be signs in the sun and moon and stars, and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Men’s hearts failing them for fear and for looking after those things which are coming upon the earth: for the powers of heaven will be shaken. And then they shall see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.”

Luke 21:25-27 (kjv)

Once again we see where the center point of alignment is to be observed as to the appointed time for the return of Christ. This goes in accordance with many other signs in the Bible, such as the Lamb being in the center of the throne, the twelve tribes surrounding the Lamb, the twelve prophets/disciples of Jesus, and finally the twelve months of the calendar. The number twelve itself holds a very significant value throughout the entirety of the Bible. Christ is at the center of it all.

Chapter: The Order of Resurrection (Pages 417-418)

“There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for stars differ from stars in glory. So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown a perishable body, it is raised an imperishable body; it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body. So also it is written, “The first man, Adam became a living soul. The last Adam became a life- giving spirit. However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural; then the spiritual. The first man is from the earth, earthy; the second man is from heaven. As is the earthy, so also are those who are earthy; and as is the heavenly, so also are those who are heavenly. And just as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.”

1 Corinthians 15: 41-49 (nasb)

In reading this scripture we find that we are all born as earthly beings in a natural state. The flipside is that there is also an opportunity for us to live and be raised into our spiritual bodies. In order to understand this concept, we must believe in the resurrection. Without the resurrection these words make no sense and you cannot hear the “voice” of God… So, if in reading you cannot understand, then you might need to make adjustments in your life.

If we look at Adam as the example here, we are able to see how the first man was from the earth and the second man from heaven. The first man was dead in sin, and the second man was resurrected into a new life with God. This is when we can begin to understand a truly transformational process that occurs by enduring a baptism of repentance and seeking God the Father. Christ himself endured a resurrection as a man here on this earth in order that we might understand Him….John writes about this in depth in order that we may understand perfectly how God planned the life of Christ…

“The first man is from the earth, earthy; the second man is from heaven.” This might be hard for someone to understand, but it is very real and helps us to understand how we should be able to perceive the kingdom of God. If we give up our old lives as earthy beings and commit ourselves to Jesus Christ and put our trust in Him through His own resurrection, then we will truly be transformed into our heavenly bodies. This is repeated through much of the New Testament and from many different perspectives. However, if we do not try to understand or believe in Him, then we will not be able to grasp this concept. We must only attempt to find understanding, and God will do the rest of the work.
