God’s Secret: Disclosing God’s Hidden truths of the Bible

Chapter: Lord Of All (Pages 32-35…)

READ Romans 11:19-21:

“Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the Scriptures say, “I will take revenge; I will pay them back, says the Lord. Instead, “If your enemies are hungry, feed them. If they are thirsty, give them something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals of shame on their heads. Don’t let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good.” (J. NLT)

READ Jeremiah 4:19-22:

“My heart, my heart- I writhe in pain! My heart pounds within me! I cannot be still. For I have heard the blast of enemy trumpets and the roar of their battle cries. Waves of destruction roll over the land, until it lies in complete des- olation. Suddenly my tents are destroyed; in a moment my shelters are crushed. How long must I see the battle flags and hear the trumpets of war? “My people are foolish and do not know me,” says the Lord. They are stupid children who have no understanding. They are clever enough at doing wrong, but they have no idea how to do right!” (J.NLT)

READ Zephaniah 1:14-16:

That terrible day of the Lord is near. Swiftly it comes- a day of bitter tears, a day when the Lord’s anger is poured out- a day of terrible dis- tress and anguish, a day of ruin and desolation, a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and blackness, a day of trumpet calls and battle cries. Down go the walled cities and the strongest bat- tlements. (J. NLT)

DEVOTIONAL

Let yourself be a tool of righteousness and strength. Overcome evil by doing good in the sight of God. Do not cause your heart to beat in anxiety, but be calm and collected. God’s promise is to defeat all of the enemies of his people. He will accomplish this task with his sovereign con- trol. Do not think that the cleverness of the world will ever overcome the discernment of God’s people and those who bear his wisdom. God con- sistently reminds us to not trust the ways of the world, but trust in the Word of God. The great and terrible day of the Lord is full of redemption.
