An Army Like There Never Has Been…

God’s Secret: Disclosing God’s Hidden Truths of the Bible

Chapter: Mighty God (Pages 56-59)

READ John 13:18-19:

I am referring to all of you; I know those I have chosen. But this is to fulfill this passage of Scripture: ‘He who shared my bread has turned against me.’ I am telling you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe that I am who I am. Very truly I tell you, whoever accepts anyone I send accepts me; and whoever accepts the one who sent me. (NIV)

READ Joel 2:1-2:

Blow the trumpet in Zion; sound the alarm on my holy hill. Let all who live in the land tremble, for the day of the Lord is coming. It is close at hand-a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and blackness. Like dawn spreading across the mountains a large and mighty army comes, such as never was in ancient times nor ever will be in ages to come. (NIV)

READ Joel 2:12-13:

“Even now,” declares the Lord, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning.” Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity. (NIV)

This is a reminder that even those who have betrayed Jesus will have a chance at being for- given. Repentance is what God asks of us, and we are to be mindful of this truth. We live in an imperfect world where there is much strife and heartache. We live in a world where there is a great deal of fear, but we live without fear when we know that God is with us. We are aware of the world, but we live in a godly state with a godly mindset. We look to the day of the Lord as our salvation and understand that there is much sym- bolism in the Word of God. In addition to a day of darkness, we can also look to the day of the Lord as a dawn spreading across the mountains, with legions of angels approaching. We are to be mindful of our bodies and to seek to live in a pure and holy state. Our knowledge of God’s power to relent from bringing calamity is due to Jesus. However, this awesome Lamb will be the one who also conquers all evil and brings the Sword of the Spirit upon the Earth. He is loyal in keeping his promises. He judges all nations. The truth of the matter is that there have been many evil works in the world, and God has witnessed it all. He will not hold back His wrath upon those who continue to commit these immoral acts. The Word of God speaks about this plain and clear.

God’s Secret: Disclosing God’s Hidden Truths of the Bible

Chapter: Offspring Of David (Pages 72-74)

READ John 8:14, 16:

Even if I testify on my own behalf, my testi- mony is valid, for I know where I came from and where I am going. But you have no idea where I came from or where I am going…But if I do judge, my decisions are true, because I am not alone. I stand with the Father, who sent me.

READ Daniel 9:24: “Seventy sevens are decreed for your people and your holy city to finish transgression, to put an end to sin, to atone for wickedness, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the Most Holy Place.”

In the end of days, we will see a time of testing that will be upon the human race in order to discern who is able to discover the true words that come from God. In the end, the words that we will hold onto will be those of Jesus. When we read the new translations of the Bible, it is important to know that they have changed along with the world. So, translations in a sense have become more worldly and far from God. To know the Word of God is to know the Son of God. As Jesus says, “Little children, do not be lead astray by false teachers and false prophets…” It is our job to use all of the resources that we have available and to know the truth. The Bible was written in a time when there was a great deal of translation and interpretation required. We must know that in the end, God will expect us to seek out truth when words do not make sense or seem to be unreasonable. Do not allow yourself to be led away from the truth, but do your homework and know that Jesus is the author of the future. Jesus more than likely has many books that He has written that He will give to His people. These books contain the hidden manna from heaven. Search for the hidden manna, and you will find it….”seek and ye shall find…” Ask questions; do not just sit and listen, but seek. Jesus said that do not believe you are saved just by reading the scriptures, but look harder and more in depth. Also, incorporate works into your daily life. Know that God is a loving protector.
